SIP Pause lets you temporarily suspend your SIP instalments for 1–3 months without cancelling the SIP entirely — useful during short-term financial stress.
Most AMCs and platforms allow investors to pause a SIP for 1 to 3 months if they face a temporary financial crunch — medical emergency, job transition, or a one-time large expense. During the pause, no debit occurs and no units are purchased. After the pause period, the SIP automatically resumes. This is different from cancelling the SIP (which requires re-registering if you want to restart).
Life is unpredictable. If you face a cash crunch for a month or two, a SIP Pause lets you skip those instalments without cancelling your investment plan entirely. It's much better than stopping the SIP permanently — which would require going through the setup process again and might lead to not restarting at all.
Log in to your AMC app or investment platform and find the SIP Pause option.
Select the number of months to pause (typically 1–3).
No debit occurs in the pause period.
SIP automatically resumes after the pause period ends.
